Have you ever thought why mosquitoes bite you more than others? If you want to know the answer, here is why;
1.Your apparel is definitely one of the reasons
Mosquitoes use their eyes to target their prey. They have a highly improved vision. So, if you wear red or dark colors, you will be spotted easily by mosquitoes.
2.Type ‘’0’’ blood
People with Type 0 blood are more likely to get bit than those with Type A. Because every blood type contains different amount of protein and mosquitoes bite us to get protein from our blood. Most people secrete chemical signals indicating which blood type they have. So, mosquitoes can choose their prey, namely people, according to the signals and their protein needs.
Mosquitoes can detect carbon dioxide very easily. So, people who exhale more carbon dioxide over time –mostly overweight people- attract mosquitoes more than others.
Mosquitoes can find their preys by smelling lactic acid expelled via sweat. They are also attracted to people who have higher body temperature.
5.Bacteria on your skin
Mosquitoes are attracted to people who have certain types and volume of bacteria on their skin. This may be the reason why they are prone to biting our feet and ankles as they have more bacteria naturally.
As pregnant women exhale more carbon dioxide and their body temperature is higher, mosquitoes are attracted to them.
7.If you have just drunk beer…
Drinking beer increases the amount of ethanol in sweat and the body temperature. Therefore, if you have just drunk beer, mosquitoes can easily spot you and bite.
Beside the other factors, it is assumed that mosquitoes target their preys according to their genetics.
