There is no doubt that both the books and TV series of Game of Thrones gained a huge success recently. But did you know that there is more to Westeros than it meets the eye? Here we have listed 17 interesting facts about Game of Thrones, so that nobody will say “You know nothing,” to you. (Also, SPOILERS ARE COMING.)
1.In the original book series, the last words of Robb Stark and Jon Snow were the names of their wolves.
2.The actress Natalie Dormer, who plays the gorgeous queen Margaery Tyrell, said that she was a huge fan of the show before taking a role in it. She also admitted that she does not read the whole script but only her own parts, and that way she can still watch the show without huge spoilers.
3.Sophie Turner, also as known as Sansa Stark in the TV series, said that she really challenged herself by singing in the episode “Battle of Blackwater”. The young actress, who previously said that she did not like her own voice, had to sing in a room full of strangers.
4.Maise Williams, or Arya Stark in the TV series, admitted that she hated wearing the same costume for four years and got really excited about going to Bravos in her storyline so she could wear different costumes.
5.About 700 costumes are prepared for each episode, and approximately 7000 costumes are prepared for a season.
6.British actor Iwan Rheon, who plays Ramsay Bolton in the TV series, stated that he got inspired from Joker.
7.The wig for the character Khaleesi, who is portrayed by Emilia Clarke, takes two hours to be prepared.
8.In the books, the real name of Hodor is Walder. On the other hand, in the TV series they used the name “Wylis”.
9.In the books, the character Daario Naharis has blue-dyed hair and beard, with a yellow colored moustache. In the TV series, he is brown hair, beard and moustache, and he is portrayed by Dutch actor Michiel Huisman.
10.It takes six hours of makeup before every shoot to create the White Walkers. Only the icy blue eyes of the Walkers are crafted digitally with CGI.
11.Maise Williams could not see clearly when she put the contact lenses which were used to create the blind eyes of Arya Stark. Even in the fighting scenes, they had to put a tiny hole in the lenses so that nobody got hurt.
12.Cersei wears the ring of his eldest son Joffrey since he has died.
13.In the shootings of the sixth season, they did not use the name “Jon Snow” in the scripts because his return wanted to be kept as a secret. Instead, they used “LC”, an abbreviation for “Lord Commander” in the script.
14.The actor who portrays “The Mountain” Gregor Clegane is actually 20 years younger than Rory McCann, who is Sandor Clegane, commonly nicknamed “The Hound”, in the TV series.
15.The legacy of “killing a king each season” continues with the recent death of Balon Greyjoy.
16.In the books, Tyrion loses his nose in the Battle of Blackwater. However, because using special effects for each episode would cost a lot, they have decided to keep the scar instead.
17.In the books, the face of The Hound is burnt so badly that his cheek bones can be seen and his left ear is completely gone.
